Black Beauty Club is expanding Beauty on the Block, its block-party shopping event for Black-owned beauty brands, into a touring format with stops across New York and Chicago.

The format works because it collapses the distance between brand and buyer. Founders sell face to face, shoppers test products in the open air, and the whole thing runs on the block-party energy that has always doubled as commerce in Black neighborhoods.

For independent beauty brands squeezed by retail margins, a touring open-air marketplace is more than a vibe. It is distribution.

The block party was always our retail format. Somebody finally put a name on it.
