Meet The Founder
Known For
A Chicago barber who started formulating products for his own clients because what existed on shelves did not serve them. Built Luster Products into one of the longest-running Black-owned hair care companies in the world — 125 products, 70 countries, still family-owned.
The Story
Fred Luster Sr. founded Luster Products in Chicago in 1957 and built one of the great Black-owned business empires in consumer goods. The Pink Moisturizing Lotion Hair Dress became a household name across Black America: a product so trusted that generations have grown up with it in their medicine cabinets. Luster's legacy is one of the longest in Black beauty history.
