Applications are open for the Fall 2026 cohort of Black in Business, the free education program run by Goldman Sachs's One Million Black Women initiative with the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City.
The program is aimed at sole proprietors, the owners doing everything themselves, and teaches the operational skills that turn a one-person operation into an employer: finance, hiring, systems, growth planning.
That jump is precisely where the Census milestone this month was made. Two hundred thousand Black-owned employer firms exist because sole proprietors kept crossing this exact bridge. Programs that pay the toll are worth knowing about, and this one costs nothing but the application.
